Personal Exhibition
Northernmost Country
Today Art Museum, 2014
In Northernmost Country, temperature, power, and attitude were the story of this exhibition, revealing Qu's philosophy of art for the past 20 years. It was a detailed survey of his artistic journey. To present a utopia where people do not need to think and revel perpetually in great happiness, Qu created contrasting exhibition experience between the main and the auxiliary exhibition halls, prompting the audience to search within themselves the kind of Northernmost Country where they belong. In the main exhibition hall, the artist had reinvented his own studio, where large white sculptures under the light showed every phase of its formation. And the auxiliary hall was mainly taken up by the colorful limited-edition sculptures of X+Q; and together with select household items they created the ambience of high-end interior design. Through the contrast, this exhibition showcased the intricate dialectic of the material goal and spiritual pursuit.

Will Things Ever Get Better?
- Joint Exhibition by Xiang Jing and Qu Guangci
Museum of Contemporary Art, Shanghai, 2012
From Shanghai to Beijing and back Xiang Jing and Qu Guangci journeyed, having seen prosperity and its absurdity, beauty and its vanity. They questioned:"Will things ever get better?" The Birdcalls in theFloating World and the Grand Dinner Party by Qu Guangci depicted those comic faces in this mundane world, where the artist listened attentively to those words of neither human languages nor birdcalls, and gave shape to this nuanced absurdity by reinventing it on several of those little chubby faces. The crowded dinner party and the misunderstanding brought about by the unintelligible birdcalls were of intense sarcasm. But the artist did not intend this piece of art mainly for the sarcasm. In this earthly world, visual experience often changes according to the mental state of the viewers, like a web of the interweaving of thriving streets and dark alleyways. Objectively,it is all materialistic; more objectively,it is all illusional. The artist was questioning life, art, the past, the present and the future in the language of art, and he hoped the audience may thus reflect on the questions in their heart.
