Wang Min

 

Professor Min Wang,one of the founders of ICAA (International Creative Arts Alliance),the President of the Academic Committee,the Dean of School of Design at China Central Academy of Fine Arts(CAFA),the Academy is the most prestigious and influential art school in China.Min was Chair Professor at School of Design, Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Min Wang has been appointed by the Ministry of Education as Chang Jiang (Li Ka Shing Foundation) Scholars Chair Professor in 2007 and he is member of Council of Creative Economy, World Economic Forum (Davos), and member of AGI (Alliance Graphique Internationale) and President of AGI China Chapter.Until 1997.Min’s work has been exhibited internationally in showcases such as the Biennian of Graphic Design, Brno; Graphic Design Show in Beijing; Type Directors Club Exhibition in New York; Print Annual; and the International Poster Biennial Lahti and in the collection of Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe in Hamburg; Museum für Gestaltung Zürich, etc.

 

 

Min Wang received MFA from Yale University School of Art in 1988 and he had been a visiting fellow in Germany at Akademe der Bildenden Kunste, Munich and Hochschule der Kunste,Berlin. In 1986, he went from Europe to USA and got himself enrolled in the Yale University School of Art. Within 2 years he obtained a MFA in graphic design and the Norman Ives Award for his excellence as a graduate.Min Wang has lectured in graphic design at Yale University School of Art from 1989 to 1997.He has joined Square Two in 1998 after serving 8 years as Design Manager,Senior Art Director, Graphic Designer at Adobe Systems.The clients he had served included Adobe, IBM, Intel, Netscape, and Stanford University.

 

Min Wang was the Design Director of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Committee from 2006 to 2008,responsible for the design of the Look of the Games. He also has been the Director of Art Research Center of Olympic Games (ARCOG) at CAFA since 2004. Under his leadership, the Center had created the medal, the pictogram, the color system, the image and identity guidelines, etc. for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

 

 

Since Prof. Wang Min was appointed the Dean of the School of Design of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2003,in just 7 years, the school has grown three fold and was chosen by the Business Week of America to be one of the thirty best design schools in the world in 2009.

 

Min was elected and served as the Vice President (07-09) of ICOGRADA (the International Council of Graphic Design Associations, the world body for professional communication design). He was the key person for organizing the ICOGRADA World Design Congress 2009 in Beijing.In Jan. 2013, he was named the President of the AGI Chinese Society. (AGI is short for Alliance Graphique Internationale, founded in 1951 in Paris, France, an alliance of notable designers from all countries, where the best and the most influential designers around the world gather, to lead the trend of graphic design. It is the most revered organization in the graphic design world and enjoys the highest reputation.)
